Meet the Principal

Dr. Kristy Andre began serving Peters Canyon Elementary in July 2020. Dr. Andre is an educator who is always thinking of ways to evolve and grow and hopes always to provide a space for everyone to feel loved, cared for, and safe. She has a Masters in Education from Concordia University, Irvine and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. Kristy has served as an elementary teacher, middle school teacher, and instructional coach. She has taught in a traditional classroom setting, a non-traditional classroom setting, and has taught in South Africa for two years. Kristy also served as an adjunct professor where she taught in the Masters in Educational Technology program.

Before her time at Peters Canyon, Dr. Andre served as the Assistant Principal at Hicks Canyon Elementary and as a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Teacher on Special Assignment for the Tustin Unified School District. She implemented Social Emotional Learning, academic interventions, and PBIS to the schools in TUSD. Dr. Andre is an ISTE 2014 Emerging Leader, Google for Education Certified Trainer, and Apple Teacher. In 2016, she was recognized as a Top Teacher of Orange County by O.C. Parenting Magazine.  Dr. Andre is the author of Evolving Learner: Shifting from Professional Development to Professional Learning from Kids, Peers, and the World.

Dr. Andre is passionate about Social, Emotional, and Academic Learning. Dr. Andre is excited to partner with parents and staff in developing scholars as they grow into caring citizens that contribute to society.
