Meet the Principal

Dr. Kristy Andre has proudly served as Principal of Peters Canyon Elementary since July 2020. She is an educator who is constantly seeking ways to grow, innovate, and create a school environment where every student, staff member, and family feels loved, cared for, and safe.

Dr. Andre holds a Master’s in Education from Concordia University, Irvine, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California. Her career in education spans a variety of roles, including elementary and middle school teacher, instructional coach, and adjunct professor in the Master’s in Educational Technology program. She has taught in both traditional and non-traditional classrooms, and even spent two years teaching in South Africa.

Before joining Peters Canyon, Dr. Andre served as Assistant Principal at Hicks Canyon Elementary and as a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Teacher on Special Assignment for the Tustin Unified School District, where she implemented Social Emotional Learning (SEL), academic interventions, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) across multiple schools.

A recognized leader in educational innovation, Dr. Andre is an ISTE 2014 Emerging Leader, a Google for Education Certified Trainer, and an Apple Teacher. In 2016, she was named a Top Teacher of Orange County by O.C. Parenting Magazine. She is also the author of Evolving Learner: Shifting from Professional Development to Professional Learning from Kids, Peers, and the World.

Passionate about integrating social, emotional, and academic learning, Dr. Andre is committed to partnering with parents, staff, and the community to inspire curiosity, develop strong scholars, and nurture caring citizens who contribute meaningfully to the world.
